Fics Not to Be

 I’m going to tell you about a fic that I’m not going to write, even though I’ve spent a fair amount of time thinking about it.

I’ve been having fun with the Sparkr series, coming up with pairings and then telling about how they hooked up using the dating/hookup app Sparkr. I’ve got three pairings under my belt already, and I’m working on a few new ones, but I’m also going back and doing some “how are they doing” stories about the pairings I’ve already got going.

After Frag the Police came Public Indecency, which was fun (but who doesn’t like reading about how Prowl and Jazz can be kinky fraggers)? The next one I was going to work on was a sequel to The Colour of Your Optics. I freaking love that story, by the way. It was a blast to write, sickly adorable, totally hot, and people really seemed to like it. Writing tooth-rottingly adorable “how they met” smut was so much fun!

Anyway, I had a great idea for the sequel. Sunstreaker is still inexperienced, and is sort of self-conscious about sexy times, but he really wants to do something good for Bluestreak. So he finds an article someplace (either from Sideswipe or just poking around the net) on “ways to please your lover” and decides to use one of the ideas… Except the article is one of those horribad Cosmo-style articles where the suggestions are more likely to cause pain than arousal.

So Sunstreaker’s going to give Bluestreak a blow job, but one of the article’s suggestions was to twist the base of the spike back and forth while going to town on it (like an Indian burn) and suddenly Blue’s like “Ow ow ow holy crap wtf are you doing?!” And Sunstreaker stops and gets all embarrassed but of course Blue calms him down, and then proceeds to teach Sunstreaker how to give a really fucking good blow job, first by demonstrating the proper technique on Sunny, and then giving him step by step instruction while Sunny reciprocates… And maybe adds some flair of his own, giving Blue a spectacular overload.

Yeah. Great idea, right?

Except while my muse was all “This is awesome! You should start writing it right away!” my brain was going “But Sunstreaker has a spike of his own. Wouldn’t he know that would hurt?”

… Probably? Now, if I was already knee-deep in writing this story and then that little thought occurred to me, I would do an authorial hand-wave to explain it away, but I haven’t started it yet and just couldn’t rationalize my way out of it.

So I’m abandoning that idea. I immediately had a different idea for those two, though, so a sequel to Colours is still in the works. ^.^
