ntldr asked: 7, 20, aaaaaaaaand...47. "The Day Cybertron Stood Still"

7) When is your preferred time to write?

Whenever I have time and energy.

No, seriously. I write at work - like, that’s my actual job - and then I come home and write. Sometimes I take my laptop to work and write fic on my lunchbreak, while other days I go for a walk at lunch and plot fics or sketch out scenes in my head. (I get a lot of plotting/phrasing done while walking… it’s really useful.)

A lot of my work “writing” is rephrasing existing material or just inserting information into existing documents. But if I’ve had to expend a lot of creative energy at work on something, I don’t always feel up to doing any personal writing when I get home. So, I take my writing time when my muse allows. If that’s in the evening after work, great. If it’s on my lunch break, fine. If it’s first thing in the morning when I’m staring bleary-eyed at my email, ok. :)

20) Are there any stories that you wished you’d ended differently?

Of my own? Not really. I’m pretty good at steering the craft where I want it to go.

But I do have a regret of sorts. In my very first long TF fanfic, I killed off Trailbreaker. I’ve since continued that series (It’s the Black on White on Black series), and I kind of regret not having him available. But he’s alive and kicking in a bunch of my other AUs. :)

47) Here’s a fic title - “The Day Cybertron Stood Still”. What would this story be about?

The announcement of a ceasefire was unexpected.

After six million years of war, did they really want everyone to just… what, stop killing each other at the specified time? On both sides of the conflict, the armies were asking the same questions. Would the other side comply? What if they didn’t? What if they did?

And… Would this actually work?

Against all belief, at the announced moment, all the guns fell silent. Airframes landed at their bases. Mobile infantry stopped in their tracks. Tankformers transformed into root mode. Everyone waited… And all optics turned to the meeting point.

On one side stood Optimus Prime. He set his ax down on the ground and held out both hands in a gesture of peace.

On the other side stood Megatron. He watched the Prime lay aside his weapon and then… he detached his fusion cannon and laid it at his feet.

Across the planet, there wasn’t a single mech who didn’t watch the two leaders walk towards each other.

The world held its breath and watched… and waited.

17) Post a line from a WIP that you’re working on.

“I’m going to take a liberty,” Smokescreen said quietly, leaning towards Halfsteel. “Tell me if you want me to stop.”

25) Have you ever cried whilst writing a story?

Out and out cried? Not really, but I have teared up. There’s a bit in the WIP I’ve got going that I know is going to make me all sniffly when I get to it.

37) What’s the funniest story you’ve written?

Probably Swipe Left. It was a story that I planned to be funny, and I think it hit the mark. :) Plus, I was tickled to discover that “Dick Pics” was an established tag on AO3.
