It’s that time again! Time to share your favourite Transformers fanfics!

A caveat - I tried to just pick fics that are completed. While I have a lot of excellent fics in my subscriptions on AO3, I am only posting ones that are done, for that instant gratification rush. :)

Here's a link to my recommendations from 2018.

I'll be straightforward: straight-up angst is not a trope that I enjoy reading. I prefer my angst with a shot of hope or fluff.

That being said, I've got two selections for this day. One has some NSFW elements, while the other is "clean."

Age by @bibliotecaria-d.
Nobody thinks about surviving to old age during the war, but time passes.
This is a collection of interrelated shorts, each starring a different character, examining how each mech deals with growing old. Some of them age gracefully, some don’t. Several of these shorts are thoughtful and sweet: for example, we find out Jazz lied about his age and is much older than everyone thought, while Sunstreaker is just a more mature version of himself and determined to age with style. But other ones are serious gutpunches: Sideswipe, for example, and what happened to Skywarp and Skydive. (Those links are right; their stories are contained in chapters about others. You might want to read chapter 18 as well to find out how Skywarp and Skydive got into that situation.)

And Bob. *sobs* Oh, Bob. <3

Rising To Your Challenge by prowlstwinkass.
Jazz was a challenge that Prowl had to understand. Prowl was a challenge that Jazz had to possess.

A Decepticon saboteur comes across an Autobot tactician, and fascination sparks a long game that could end very badly for both of them.
(Contains NSFW elements/chapters.)

I’ve been following this story for a long time and it finally wrapped up recently. It’s a long ride, documenting how a Decepticon Jazz finds Prowl and is utterly consumed by him, and what that means to both of them.

It’s a very bittersweet story, but it ends on a somewhat hopeful note, and I am thrilled to include it in my recommendations this year.
