So since I can’t draw worth a whit, I figured I’d recommend fics for each category that I really like. Some of these fics fit in multiple categories, so I just picked what I thought worked best.

A caveat - I tried to just pick fics that are completed. While I have a lot of excellent fics in my subscriptions on AO3, I figured I’d post ones that are done, for that instant gratification rush. :)

Also - if you know a Tumblr handle for the authors I’m missing, please let me know so I can tag them!

As I know firsthand, writing a multi-chapter fic takes some dedication. These two recommendations are stories that really grabbed me.

The Iacon Prophecy by @ntldr-writes.

Any other mech would have wilted when captured and dragged off by a wildland tribe, taken away from all that they had ever known. Any other mech would have been overcome by the constant language barriers, threats of mech sacrifice, visions of a prophecy…

Any other mech would not be Sideswipe.

I’ve posted about this fic before, but it really is a fun read. It’s a romance with an epic story behind it. When I found the story it was already completed, so I sat on my patio and devoured it last summer in just a few sittings.

The world building was inspired, and I am eagerly awaiting when/if the author has time/energy to work on the sequel. :)  (Yes, there’s a bit of sex in it, but honestly, I’ve read mainstream literature with just as much - if not more - sex in it.)  But seriously, go read this if you haven’t already!

Project Fulcrum by WandersUnderStarlight.

They figured out the Sigma code. The bots they made with it aren’t what you would call “stable”.

This is another AU story, but it is extremely well done. The world building is intriguing… I wish we could have read more about some of the other Sigma-Series bots. Prowl is a seriously scary BAMF, but reading about him falling for Jazz is adorable. Great plot, fantastic writing, all around a really enjoyable story. (Contains one scene of plug-n-play interfacing.)
